[RL] Kirei + Ten (+ Gil) [To Catch A Thief]
[Kirei expected visitors. Eventually. The missing rosary and the missing book all added up. Plus there was his cell phone to take into account. Someone would start looking. And eventually come knocking.
Well, barging in this case. Right past the smudges on the floor where there used to be an almost dead body. The Doctor (it felt so wrong to call him anything else) had given him a look about it. Kirei'd said nobody died. At least honesty might count.
About a half hour has past since then. The floor boards torn up, a false wall had been found, and the chairs had been shoved aside this way and that. It looked as if a meticulously organized bomb had gone off, and there Kirei was standing off to the center watching the destruction.
Not the worst seat in the house, he had to admit.]
I hope I'm still getting my deposit.

Oh, don't worry, if they charge you for it I'll make sure your roommate pays your half, too. [ beat, during which he knocks on another section of wall. ] It is your roommate that's responsible, right? I don't think anyone even knew you had a roommate, Kirei.

He supposes some people in this position would feel shame. He doesn't. Not really. It's actually sort of amusing, watching the little nests of lost things get stumbled upon.
He scoffs, though, at the question. Hands crossed around himself. Deflecting. He isn't sure what he is most of the time, but he's fairly sure that telling on Gilgamesh wasn't on the list. Unless it were funny. And it wouldn't be. There were invisible trip wires around him. Some you could set off. Some you couldn't.
This felt like the last sort.]
I suppose I don't look like much of a thief, do I?

If we were going by looks alone I'd say that actually makes you more of a candidate, it's always the ones you least expect. [ knock knock. knock knock. ] Actually, I'm saying that because all the other clues seem to lead back here and the evidence is certainly holding that detective work up, but the almost-unnoticable scuff marks in the otherwise fairly impressive build-up of dust underneath my office window are the wrong size to be from your feet. Certainly makes an excellent case for not cleaning regularly, let me tell you.
[ beat, while he raps a little more on another section of wall. ooo, this one sounds promisingly hollow~ ] That, and posh mobiles don't seem like your sort of style, to be honest.
[ he takes a step back from the wall and rubs his hands together. ] Mind how you go, I think I found another one.

Well. He knew better.
He steps carefully around the widening holes and broken walls in the apartment.]
Quite a long way to go just for some books.

Anyway! [ he picks up his trusty secret-wall-compartment-revealing device, also known as a common-or-garden hammer. a fairly large one. ] Might seem a long way to go, but that book cost me almost a literal arm and a leg to get and quite beyond that, it's the principle of the thing, isn't it?
no subject
[A shift in his posture. Not again with the hammers.] Far be it for me to get in the way of principle.

[ he peers into the small hole he's just made before deciding that nope, still not big enough. and then he goes right back to attacking that poor wall with the hammer until he finally has a decently-sized hole that he can look into. ] Now, what have we got in here, then?
